Statement At PCO forum

The world faces two existential crisis, carbon induced climate change and nuclear proliferation. We face corruption in the whitehouse and a republican party that is a threat to the world. The democratic party is a weak counter to this disaster. Our current presumptive candidate, our only alternative in this election, may delay the end of the world as we know it, but only offers partial solutions. There are better comprehensive solutions. We progressives stand with the policies of the Squad, The green New deal, Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, Black Lives Matter, JCIRA, Immigrant rights everywhere, medicare for all, science, reason, compassion. We of course have differences, but we are united in the necessity to take radical and progressive action to counter or ameliorate looming disaster. The Democratic party must become democratic and less beholden to the capitalist class. Progressive change is beginning at the local level all over this country. You can be a part of this change. The democratic party needs to be reinvented. We progressives are the majority of democrats and the faction within the party that will bring this about. Jefferson county democrats overwhelmingly adopted a platform which represents our progressive ideals. I am proud to be one of several authors of that platform as one contribution to the local party. To make the platform a reality, leadership in our party must change. We need to insure that all candidates to whom we give money and support embrace this platform.
